Cadet Diploma Programme, with two options: Navigation and Marine Engineering

CADET OFFICERS TRAINING

LJM Maritime Academy offers three (3) year programmes in two options leading to the award of a Diploma in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering. At the end of the Diploma studies,cadets will sit examinations through the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) for certification as an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (STCW regulation II/1) or Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (STCW regulation III/1).

Admissions Criteria for Cadet:

• Be between 17 – 35 years of age
• Have a minimum of four (4) Bahamas General Certificate Secondary Education (B.G.C.S.E) – Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry or a Combined Science or equivalencies
• Be physically qualified
• Have a clean Police Record
• Complete successfully the following:
  1. Drug Test
  2. Medical Test
  3. Psychomotor Skills Test
  4. Interview Session
